Dish Network is one of the two companies currently offering satellite television service. Their quality is excellent for the pricing, and a high-quality alternative to cable television service.
When you order Dish Network service through their online offers, you get the equipment and installation for up to 4 rooms free. However, there may be extra programming charges if you want service on more than two TVs, regardless of the regular package price.
Then there's the monthly cost. This can range from a low of $31.99 (after any special offers have expired) to a high of nearly $90. Your selection of channels will range from 60 to more than 250 channels.
Packages are fairly customizable, so once you go beyond the basic 60 or so channel package, you can get the kinds of channels you want.
You may have to pay a bit more if you have more than two televisions hooked up to your satellite service or if you choose to have HDTV or a DVR service through Dish Network.
HDTV is growing in popularity. If you have a television that can take advantage of this service, you'll be amazed by the picture quality available. It is well worth the extra cost.
However, I must say that my personal favorite is DVR or TiVo service. It also adds just a little cost to your service, but it is so wonderful to be able to tell my television what shows I like to watch regularly, and have it record them so I can play them back at my leisure, even if it's just a few minutes into the recording. It also takes care of those times when my favorite shows are on at different times than the normal one, such as when reality show finales run long or on Sunday.
One of the wonderful things about satellite television is the selection of channels you get, as well as the high quality of service. When you're shopping for satellite television carriers, compare their actual channel lineups for your area to decide which company is for you. Ordering online has the advantage of giving you free equipment, which may not be available from in-store purchases.
